An Update

Bless you all
for your kind supportive words and prayers.

Things continue to be tough at the moment, for a number of reasons and take up almost all our time, but we are soldiering on.

My husband's father died peacefully with family around his beside yesterday morning.
My mother is making slow progress in some areas and obviously a cause for concern in others. My father continues to deteriorate.
Sleepless nights and poor appetites are the order of the day.

I recommend this book. It's excellent:
A Time to Care by Emily Ackerman.

God Bless.

  1. I have been through this and it is a very difficult and sad time. It is better if there is help and you don't have to go through it alone. Even though it was hard, I feel I was blessed to have the opportunity to be there for them in the end and to let them know how much they were cherished.

I just pray though that when my time comes, it will be quick and I will not be a burden to my family.

You are managing very well, Madeleine. You sound positive and that will be a help to those who are suffering, as well as to yourself. Take care. You are in our thoughts.

  5. It is such a difficult time when our parents decline in health, but it is inevitable. I have been through it, and both my husband's and my parents have passed on. So much emotion will be the norm for you all at this difficult time. Thinking of you Maddy.

  9. Hi Madeleine .. so sorry to read your previous post and now this one. Desperate times with so much going on at once ... and I hear your 'cries' ... and all three happening at once and now a death - so much to cope with. I sincerely hope other family members are helping you both ease your way through these challenging times ...

The stress and strains will be enormous .. as you say exhaustion, loss of appetite and just sheer relief when one day ends and 'collapse' for a brief time can set in before the morrow starts up.

With many many thoughts - I'll be thinking of you ... Hilary

    1. Bless you Hilary, you are such a comfort. Yes I have a suspicion that a head cold lurks on the horizon now that the storm has abated somewhat, though I have been enjoying resuming my everyday routine this past week and cuddling kitties, too.
