Her paranormal romance novella, FEARLESS, will be released on August 7th. To help promote it, she wanted to do something fun. One of her favorite parts of writing the story was creating monsters spawned from children's imaginations. Some of them are silly, but there's no rhyme or reason to a child's fears.
She'll be hosting a blogfest from August 7th to the 9th. You can post on any one of those three days. For this blogfest, all you need to do is write about your childhood monster. Did you have a beast living under your bed? Or was the scary clown in your closet?
I don't recall seeing this monster in real life, but I think it was inspired by the Cybermen from BBC's Doctor Who (and it occurs to me, scary movies about the Ku Klux Klan).
Have any of you come across this brilliant book The Monster Bed by Jeanne Willis, Susan Varley & Jeanne Varley?

Hi Maria, yes the fear was tangible and Cybermen are still scary.
Okay, this blogfest is scaring the pants (trousers!) off of me! Wow, I'd be scared of that, too. In fact, I am right now.

ReplyDeleteOh, SUPER creepy! That would freak me out even now as a grown-up, haha. I seem to recall a movie with some kind of sack-cloth-faced monster (not the psychiatrist in Batman, another one, maybe Spanish), but for sure it was after your and my childhood (I suspect we may be the same generation). Excellent post, especially because your "monster" didn't come from an external source but rather was a unique product of your imagination. Thanks for sharing!
