It's kind of a gritty romance with a little twist.
This self publishing is quite a scary prospect. I've read through some advice from fellow bloggers (thanks) and I've trawled through the free photos. My cover design is below with the blurb on the back cover as follows...

On a personal front: the downstairs cloakroom is finished at last! The final problem was that once the lino was laid the door wouldn't shut and lock! Our olderst cat and I have had dentals. Both have cost a fortune and mine is ongoing.
Oh dear, at just under 7,000 words the document for my short story is bigger than the 50k Kindle upload allowance, so I may have to launch it in two parts...I'm attempting to format it now.For this month's Insecure Writer’s Support Group, hosted by Alex J. Cavanaugh, I have come across some great posts. One by LGSmith which I wholeheartedly support that we writers are often guilty of holding oureselves back because we are afraid of not being perfect.
And hop over to Golden Eagle and her Neil Gaiman youtube video. It's awesome. I'm putting one of those bottles out in the ocean, making art. I can empathise with the man in the clipboard scenario too re: my e-pen prize.
Hi Madeleine. Hope that WC is functional now! Congrats on going ahead and publishing an ebook. I don't think you need a back cover for this. It sounds good, gritty romance eh? Sounds like my kind of book.

How exciting, but it does sound scary. The hard work will pay off.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to blogging. I'm glad the room is finished and that you've had your dentals.
I think the logistics of self-publishing would occupy my time 24/7. Glad you've got it figured out and are ready to put some of your work out there. Congrats on that.
ReplyDeleteThanks Luanne, yes formatting it is interesting and I'm just getting my head around the other stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks Denise Yes, I did the back cover for the blog rather than the Kindle.
Thanks Medeia, I've got another dental in 2 weeks :o/
Congrats on taking the plunge and going with an e-version of your book. Tough decision, I know. Not sure what you mean about the 50K limit on kindle, though. I uploaded the manuscript for my novel onto my kindle, and it's close to 90,000 words. No problem. Except my formatting is kinda lousy. But it's a great way to get a fresh look for editing purposes. Funny how an error becomes more noticeable on the kindle than on the computer.
ReplyDeleteOh you STAR!!! HUGE Congratulations!!! Oh wow!!!! You go off the blogosphere and return with a BANG!!! Well done you!!! Yay! Take care

Congrats! Go for it and have no fear.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting your story out!
ReplyDelete6000 words shouldn't be anywhere near 50k. Even with the cover. And for an ebook, you need only the front cover.
Thanks for including my book cover on your sidebar :)
Big congrats!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Let me know when it's about to release and I'll do a shout-out in the Ninja News.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! It does sound like a lot of work, but I'm sure it will pay off! Good for you for making things happen. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, fantastic news! How exciting. I know how stressful it can be, and how much work is involved, but it will get done! Keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteBless you everyone. Yes I think that it will fit the Kindle download when I've formatted it correctly. I intend to do a launch email with a linky.
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for your support.
Thanks for the chuckle Old Kitty, too ;O)
At the moment I am also preparing for a job interview...
