What does the word Absence conjure up for you?

The ramblings of aspiring author, Madeleine Sara, her dreams to become published and her trials and tribulations along the way. Plus other writerly nuggets of wisdom! Apologies for my typos, I get very cold hands with Raynauds and sometimes there's a persistent kittie on my lap, nudging my hand as I type.

Absence is a sad word, I think. But it offers the promise of something to come too.
ReplyDeleteI haven't written a haiku for ages. They've definitely been absent from my life. ;)
ReplyDeleteAbsence makes me think of missing school, which makes me think of Hookie Day with my kids when we all go do something fun instead of work/school.
The word absence to me makes me think of something or someone is missing.
ReplyDeleteI like the different ways you used the word.
That's a beautiful photo with snow on trees. And lovely words, too!
ReplyDeleteI like your photo/haiku pairings; nice work!
ReplyDeleteAn excellent collection.
ReplyDeleteThe word, absence makes me hungry...don't know why. I do love your haikus. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely haikus and photos!
ReplyDeleteAnd a great question! Absence can mean loneliness or emptiness, but also (on a more positive note) a break or vacation--time away to revive and recharge.
oh I love the dog haiku!! It's wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteGreat haikus and photos. We had our first snow today & it looked a lot like your last photo this morning. Also like the tooth one :)
ReplyDeleteI like your exploration of all the types of abscences ...
ReplyDeleteso many different expressions!
ReplyDeletelike the poor doggie one best!
Anticipation of things to come -- hopefully all good.

Nice Haiku. Loved "missing you" and "changing seasons"
ReplyDeleteI loved your haikus and photos - especially the little dog one :-)
ReplyDeleteAbsence can be good if it leads to a wonderful reunion!
All best

Hi Madeleine .. sadness I think - that sense of longing for a return ... then it gives a time of muc needed space to be oneself ... or an empty spot where something beloved was smashed - no worries though a treasure to fill that space will be found after an absence of time ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteit's sad how much a dog misses you even when you are gone a short time
ReplyDeleteOften a sad word, but not always! My Wee One lost that tooth and it's mate not too long ago, and is busy growing the new ones :)
ReplyDeleteNice set!
Absence and yearning.
ReplyDeleteWhat can ever fill the void?
The tip of your tongue.
Cheers!
