What's YOUR Favourite Hymn?

Here's one  of ours.

What would you choose?

  1. Yikes, I have to choose one?? Oh, dear... "How Great Thou Art" is definitely up there, but (yeah, I can't choose one) there's also "O Sacred Head", and "What a Friend We Have in Jesus". Oh, and "O Thou Fount of Every Blessing". Okay, I'll stop now before I've named the entire hymnal! :)

  2. Lovely, Su, you can choose as many as you like. :O)

  3. My two all-time favorites are "All Things Bright and Beautiful" and "Tis a Gift to be Simple" . But there are many more. Singing hymns is something that is always joyful.

  4. Hymn....I don't know if these qualify, but I love the Hallelujah Chorus. I also love O Holy Night and He Reigns by Newsboys.

Hope you're having a great weekend re: your comment-I understand totally!

  5. I have to choose just one? Yikes. It would either have to be the same as Stephanie, All Things Bright and Beautiful, or Jerusalem.
    Okay. I'm saying Jerusalem.

  6. Schubert's Ave Maria?

    Take care

  7. I love "Eternal Father (Strong to Save)" - a lot of people now know it as "For those in peril on the sea" as was sang on the film Titanic. I love your choice too - sang this many a time growing up in wales!

  8. I love "I Believe" by Elvis Presley.

  9. "Amazing Grace" always makes the hair on my neck stand on end, whether it's sung solo by Judy Collins, by a massed choir, or as an instrumental by the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (with a bagpipe solo).

  10. My favorite is amazing grace for sure:)

  11. Amazing Grace, but I can't listen to it and not cry. How Great thou Art, and so many more.

  12. What a lovely post, Madeleine...a perfect choice for today! My favourite hymn is definitely 'Jerusalem', closely followed by 'The Lord's My Shepherd'. I'll be humming one or the other for the rest of the evening, now...:)

I also wanted to thank you for your comment on the use of the passive voice in my scarecrow story. I am fond of it for some things, but can't convince the built-in word check that I really want to use it...LOL!

  13. Oh I also love your choice Madeleine. That's probably my number one. But also Amazing Grace, and How Great Thou Art. I like hymns that are stirring and uplifting. Can't stand the depressing ones.

  14. I have lots of favorites, but the first to come to mind is: How Great Thou Art

    then sings my soul :)

  15. Great question. When I Survey the Wondrous Cross, Higher Ground, Be Thou My Vision, O Sacred Head, Pass Me Not O Gentle Savior, Fly Away.

  16. Love all your choices.

I'm wondering how they could be depicted visually as a name that hymn challenge. :O)

  17. All the above, and more! It Is Well with My Soul...Abide with Me.,.Jesus Loves Me...how can anyone put a stop to the list of hymns praising God?!
    Love your posts.
