Sixty Sixty

In celebration of reaching 50 followers, Nahno McLein is hosting his first blogfest: The 60x60 Challenge.
Originally the challenge involved writing 60 words in 60 seconds, but the most Nahno could reach was 47. So, Nahno has now amended the challenge to submitting or posting in the comments section of his blog a 60 word piece of writing that contains art in any form.

Here is my entry:

NB: hadn't counts as 2 words.

I'd love to know what your imagination thinks Nadine looks like?

Where is she escaping from?

Who is standing beside her?

  1. Hmm... interesting idea! I want to know exactly the same things about Nadine as you do!

    ;-)

  2. LOL, I'm going to say Nadine's a dog. Hmm, am I right, am I right??? Great piece Madeleine!

    Hugs,

  3. ROFL, now that was completely unexpected, Rach, though I can see where you're coming from. No it's not a dog? :O)

  4. I was going to say Nadine was an animal of some kind! I see a tiny person - I think it's the shrinking against the wall - I guess it's that she's able to make herself smaller. Not logical I know but I see a small person!!!

Yard says some kind of prison? This man she's running from.. is he able to be very silent - ghost like?

    What fun,thank you! Take care

  5. Thanks for starting a thread in my comments that has turned into an absolutely hilarious story.

    Love your snippet:

Assuming Nadine is human, with dark eyes, she will have a mass of dark curly hair, straight nose, cause I like em', and long fingers.

She is escaping to her grandmothers because the wolf-man next to her wants more than her basket of goodies. LOL

  6. Super.
Thank you so much for taking part. It's a great 60 word piece.

Mh, who might that be next to her. I still wonder more what the guy did to her that she is hiding from him. Maybe it's nobody next to her, maybe it's just one of those huge umbrellas.

  7. Nice entry! I'm going to guess that she's escaping home and her abusive husband is breathing beside her...(sorry, don't know where that darkness came from...) Aside from that, happy writing today! :)

  8. Oh Madeleine - you can't leave us there - now I want to know what happens next!

  9. Oooo. Good one! My guess is that she is a ghost trying to escape a demon that is holding her captive on this side!

  10. Wow! That's very tense indeed. Great piece.

  11. I got scared and never thought Nadine was anything but human or human like.

  12. There's a lot of tension in that piece!

My guess? She has straight brown hair, petite figure. The person standing next to her is someone sent to capture her.

  13. Hmmmm, these are some great ideas. I thought it was a woman, but I also like the dog/animal premise.....

    Great sense of danger/suspense!

  14. Nadine is a teenager who is skipping out to join her friends at the mall and the breathing beside her is her German Shepherd who followed her out the door!

  15. I'm with Ms. Daisy. Overnight, our outside dogs got out of their kennel and when I opened my front door, they sommersaulted into my house. This is pretty much how I felt until I knew who/what they were.

  16. Ooooh, great entry! I think she's escaping from a man that was holding her in his underground bunker. The breath beside her belongs to another girl who has managed to get out as well only Nadine didn't know there was anyone else held below with her because it was dark all the time and they were kept in separate soundproof rooms.

Yikes! I can't believe where my mind went with that!

  17. Nadine sounds very animal-like--maybe part human and part something else. I imagined that another similar creature was beside her. Good entry. Mine will be up on Friday morning 2 AM California time.

  18. I love all your suggestions. It's great what the mind conjures up without any other information to go on :o)

  19. Love it. I'm going to have to try this too.

  20. Is Nadine a cat?

Perhaps she is a woman trying to kill her husband or lover, she is holding the gun and she feels a presence near her.

    LOL...my imagination is running away.

  21. I think she just exited a wormhole and a dark sinister creature from a parallel dimension hitched a ride with her.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ah I like the sound of those, especilly the wormhole scenario! :O)

  23. I have her as a dark coloured cat (cats are good at time lol!) the breathing is the vicious Jack Russell coming after her.

  24. That sounds like a really fun challenge. Great piece. I think we are all curious now.

  25. That was thrilling! Scary stuff. I can't wait to find out who and what Nadine looks like. I don't think she's an animal, though.

  26. So much imagery in only 60 words! Love it! My guess is she's being held captive as a sex slave by a drug lord - and one of his minions, who's secretly in love with her- is the one breathing beside her. :-D

  27. I'm going with a cat, too. A black one. :)

  28. Oops I was reading through old posts and inadvertently 'shared' this one!
Nope she wasn't an animal, she's a girl.
