You know you can write really well don't you?
So why then is getting a story published so darned hard?
Are you up for a challenge starting the first week of January?
No not Nanowromo in a month, but following in the footsteps of the great Ray Bradbury
52 new submissions in 52 weeks!
52 new submissions in 52 weeks!
What advice would YOU give to anyone preparing for such a challenge? Or am I mad to attempt it?

The idea is that more you write the more experienced you get and the more responses you get, some of which will be positive ones.
• Write and submit one short story every week, starting the first week of January 2011 and ending the last week of December 2011.
• Goal: 52 new submissions in 52 weeks.
• You don't have to submit the story that you've written that week within the same week although that's what Bradbury did. (Sometimes it’s better to set a story aside for a while and come back to it.)
• The length of your story can be as short as Flash or Microfiction (140 characters - 55 words) or as long as a novelette (15,000 words). Any style, any genre: whatever you want to write.
• Every week there will be a "check-in" post where you can tell everyone about your progress; share your triumphs and disasters (or Tweet them with the #write1sub1 Twitter hashtag).

You are indeed a brave writer to undertake such a challenge, Madeleine. I wouldn't dare. Best of luck with it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by and leaving a comment. Have a wonderful weekend.

ha ha I shall be checking up on all of you brave people and the progress you make.
ReplyDeleteYou can do it Madeleine!
Cheers
Good luck with this challenge! I know you can do it!
ReplyDeleteAs for me . . . I don't think I'll be doing it.
Wow what a challenge, I don't know if I can write one sub one in a week with school and kids, but I've been writing and submitting short stotries for a long time, I'm slowly getting better, and hoping in time to get to a point where things will calm down and I can write more. I'm taking a non-fiction writing class next semester and if it's possible I might get some new stories out of it and be able to spring board more from them. Best of luck dear...
ReplyDeleteomg...I think this is probably even more nerve wrecking than NaNo. I already write one short story a week, but I wouldn't dare submit all of them. Perhaps I will compromise and just submit one a month. :) Good luck!
ReplyDeleteWOW Good luck with this challenge!! That is some serious business!
ReplyDeleteI admire your drive Madeleine.
ReplyDeleteI don't I could keep up with that schedule. January is crazy for me getting ready for other writing endeavors. Good luck. Just putting it out there to the rest of us shows your determination.
Looking forward to your HP blog entry tomorrow.
Michael
I'm in, but I am wondering if I am going to be certified any time soon!
ReplyDeleteGood luck and I look forward to running the race with you!
I think it's great and I admire anyone who does this. I doubt whether I'll be up for this sort of commitment, but I'm not going to say no either--it could happen. Good luck and I look forward to seeing how this turns out for the participants.

Tossing It Out
Your finger are going be busy! Good luck.
ReplyDeleteWe can doo eet! Glad to have you on board, Madeleine.
ReplyDeleteThis is a worthy challenge and not as hard as some people might think. I've signed up (and might be forced to eat my words. Excuse the pun) but my plan is to alternate short stories and flash fiction. One short every other week and flash fiction in between.
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting me know about this challenge Madeleine!
I am for sure going to do this! it sounds like a fun challenge! Thanks for posting it!
